Kristy Del Coro is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and professionally trained chef with more than 10 years of experience in the field of culinary nutrition. Prior to becoming a freelance writer, she worked in New York City as a culinary-nutrition consultant. Kristy was the in-house culinary nutritionist of a mission-driven Michelin-starred restaurant concept in New York City for nearly five years as well as a nutrition and sustainability consultant for foodservice operations around the country. In 2017, she co-launched an annual culinary nutrition conference for health professionals and later co-founded the Culinary Nutrition Collaborative in 2020 where she continues to host regular events.

Kristy began her career in clinical nutrition as an outpatient dietitian at a world-renowned cancer center in New York City but after completing culinary school, transitioned into culinary nutrition as her chosen field of specialty.

In early 2021, Kristy co-founded the Culinary Nutrition Collaborative, a unique platform for culinary nutrition education and consulting focused on the marriage of nutrition science with culinary arts. In addition to her work with the Culinary Nutrition Collaborative, she is a freelance food and health writer. Kristy has been quoted in numerous national publications and has been invited to present at national and international conferences over the years for her expertise in culinary nutrition.

Experience

Kristy Del Coro is a licensed Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in the State of Maine. She completed her Dietetic Internship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City and obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition from New York University (NYU) in 2008. Kristy also holds a Culinary Arts Degree from the Institute of Culinary Education where she completed her training in 2010.  

After working for over three years as a clinical dietitian at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and graduating from culinary school, Kristy transitioned from clinical nutrition into culinary nutrition, and, in 2011, joined the team at the Michelin-starred restaurant Rouge Tomate, as their in-house Culinary Nutritionist. In this unique role, she worked side by side with the restaurant’s Executive Chef to develop and modify dishes to achieve both optimum nutritional balance and exceptional culinary standard, using sustainably sourced ingredients. 

During this time, Kristy was additionally appointed senior culinary nutritionist at the restaurant’s sister company, SPE Certified, a nutrition and sustainability consultancy. As the senior culinary nutritionist for both Rouge Tomate and SPE Certified, she worked with chefs and food service operators to help them develop healthier and more sustainable businesses. Kristy worked as a consultant in various capacities for the Rouge Tomate group and SPE Certified until 2018.

In 2020, Kristy co-founded the Culinary Nutrition Collaborative. Born out of an annual Culinary Nutrition Conference, which was held in partnership with Kristy's alma mater, the Institute of Culinary Education, the Culinary Nutrition Collaborative is a unique platform for culinary nutrition education and consulting focused on the marriage of nutrition science with culinary arts. 

Kristy has been featured in nearly 50 national publications for her work as a culinary nutrition expert and contributed a combined 100+ articles and recipes for digital health and wellness platforms throughout her career.

Education

Kristy Del Coro is a registered dietitian nutritionist. Kristy has a Masters in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and a culinary art diploma from the Institute of Culinary Education. As part of her training to become a licensed dietitian, Kristy completed a dietetic internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
