According to an updated announcement from the United States Food & Drug Administration, the recall now includes more than 40 additional cereals, bars and snacks. The 10 Foods Most Linked to Recalls and Disease Outbreaks The newly recalled products include Cap'n Crunch Treats Crunch Berries Cereal Bars, Strawberry Quaker Chewy Granola Breakfast Cereal, and Cap’n Crunch Instant Oatmeal. All of them are sold at retailers such as Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Publix throughout the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan. For a complete list of the newly recalled items, click here. Side effects for those infected with salmonella include fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. What to Do If You Have Recalled Food In Your Kitchen In rare circumstances, infection with salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.
