In part, because it’s incredibly easy to make, but also because biting into it will make your tastebuds dance, instantly taking you back to fond childhood memories. The creaminess comes from store-bought Alfredo sauce, the shortcut needed on a crazy weeknight. Then, fresh spinach, sliced red onions, and garlic get sprinkled on top of the sauce to soften in the heat of the oven. The grown-up touch is the generous handful of fontina cheese that melts beautifully. All you need is 10 minutes of hands-on prep and the oven does the rest. Ingredients 1 12-oz. loaf French bread, halved lengthwise 3/4 cup refrigerated Alfredo sauce (such as Rana) 1 cup baby spinach 1/3 cup thinly sliced red onion 2 cloves garlic 4 oz. fontina cheese, shredded (about 1 cup) 1 tsp fresh thyme 1/8 tsp crushed red pepper Directions Preheat oven to 350°F with rack about 8 inches from heat. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place bread halves, cut side up, on baking sheet. Spread sauce over cut sides of bread. Top with spinach, onion, and garlic. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake until sauce is bubbly and cheese is melted, about 20 minutes. Increase oven temperature to broil. Broil until cheese is golden brown and edges are crispy, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with thyme and crushed red pepper. Cut each half into 4 pieces.
