If you’re anything like me, you understand that no meal is complete without a sweet treat. In my case, the post-meal indulgence has always been ice cream.

At college, my friends and I constantly found ourselves craving a dessert that was not only satisfying, but also healthy, convenient, and budget-friendly. We’d debate embarking on an ice cream run, only for our laziness to ultimately get the best of us. But even at home—despite much trial and error—we struggled to find a delicious yet low-effort option to satisfy our sweet tooth.

Enter The Yonanas Maker: It’s Real Simple’s tried-and-tested best ice cream maker for soft serve and has become my personal favorite for making easy sorbets or smoothie bowls in my own kitchen. Even better, it’s currently on sale for 23 percent off for October Prime Day

Using the Yonanas Maker is alarmingly simple: Just add frozen fruit into the chute and use the plunger to push down the ingredients. Yes, just frozen fruit—that’s it. No more worrying if you have all the extra ingredients needed to make a full dessert.

With no added sugar or preservatives, I didn’t initially expect the end result to be tasty. Quite frankly, I half-anticipated a sort of bland ice cream dupe whose lack of calories accounted for its lack of taste. But I was amazed by the final product. After pushing down two frozen bananas for just 10 seconds, I was instantly rewarded with a soft-serve-like, creamy dessert. And since all you need is fruit and fruit alone, you can easily make vegan- and lactose-free foods that satisfy without causing stomach aches.

You can even add toppings to make it extra tasty. I’ve personally found that a drizzle of peanut butter or a handful of chocolate chips works wonders. The device also comes with a booklet of 36 recipes so that culinary amateurs like myself can experiment with various ingredients.

More than taste, the Yonanas Maker is also impressive in terms of its speed and convenience. The low-effort process is significantly faster than making a trip to the ice cream parlor, and cleaning up is a breeze since all parts are removable and dishwasher-safe.

There’s a certain satisfaction in getting to witness the process from start to finish, as the Yonanas Maker transforms whole bananas into an indulgent sorbet. I also take pride in knowing exactly which raw ingredients I’m consuming, and find even more satisfaction knowing that I can eat as much as I want, guilt-free.

For nights when you want to indulge in a store-quality dessert without taking off your PJs, this product is the perfect pick for just $39.
