As the home chef in my house, I always try to use fresh fruit and vegetables whenever possible—you just can't compete with the taste—but I'm not so crazy about the absurdly short shelf life. It's like as soon as I buy what I need, it loses its crispness, wilts, or starts to show signs of spoilage after just a couple of days. With the skyrocketing price of produce, I hate feeling like I'm wasting my money, so I decided to try the Luxear Three-Piece Fresh Produce Storage Containers.

The three-set piece comes with different-sized containers, as well as matching lids. Each unit includes a basket or tray insert and airtight lids with adjustable air vents that can be opened or closed to best preserve your produce. I use the large 4.7-quart container to store my lettuce and spinach, but I can also insert the vertical divider to create a separate compartment for other veggies like carrots, tomatoes, and broccoli. The medium 1.9-quart container works best for storing fruits like grapes, kiwis, and strawberries, and it can transform into a two-shelf container with the included horizontal divider. The compact half-quart container works best for smaller produce like blueberries, raspberries, or nuts.

I'm no stranger to a cluttered fridge, which is why I appreciate that the Luxear set not only neatly nests together but can also be seamlessly stacked. Plus, the transparent plastic lets me see exactly what I have on hand, letting me know when to restock. The large lid even boasts a cheat sheet sticker list that shares which produce to prewash and which to ventilate. Although the brand only suggests pre-washing blueberries, you can run the colander liners underwater and unplug the bottom valve to drain excess moisture to prevent soggy, deflated produce.

After using all of the containers for a couple of months, I’m thrilled with the results. They’ve helped me lengthen the lifespan of my go-to produce, from spinach and sweet peppers to blackberries and cucumbers. Leafy greens that typically only last me a week at best stayed fresh after two weeks, and my favorite red grapes and crisp blueberries also lasted two weeks. Frankly, I ate them all before I could test the full potential longevity, but they were all preserved in enough time to be able to use up all of my weekly produce without wasting a single dollar.
